Our supporter promise

East Anglian Air Ambulance is registered with the Fundraising Regulator, and we are committed to following the Code of Fundraising Practice, ensuring our fundraising is legal, open, honest, and respectful. This policy covers all fundraising activity undertaken at EAAA by staff and volunteers.

In all fundraising activity and interactions with supporters, donors, and the general public East Anglian Air Ambulance will uphold the supporter promise:

We will always:

  • Commit to high standards of fundraising and find ways to improve
  • Be clear, honest, and open
  • Be respectful and ethical in our fundraising activity
  • Be fair and reasonable
  • Be accountable and responsible

  • Legal: Fundraising must meet the requirements of the law.
  • Open: Fundraisers must be clear about their processes and willing to explain them when necessary.
  • Honest: Fundraisers must act with integrity and must not mislead people when asking for donations.
  • Respectful: Fundraisers must respect the people and places they interact with.

General fundraising principles

  • We do not fundraise for the sake of fundraising; we fundraise to generate funds for EAAA’s life-saving service and in pursuit of our charitable and strategic objectives.
  • We remain impartial and independent of any government, political ideology, company, or religious belief, and we ensure that our fundraising respects and protects this.
  • Our primary source of funding is donations from individuals, and we are very proud of this. However, we will seek to generate income and donations by using a diverse range of fundraising methods and activity to ensure we maintain our financial sustainability, and do not become dependent on any single source of income.
  • We actively seek funding in pursuit of our charitable and strategic objectives. We ensure that projects for which we raise funds reflect our mission, priorities, and that neither the funding opportunities we pursue, nor the requirements of funders, will deflect us from our strategic objectives.
  • We ensure best value with the money we raise, so our crews can focus on improving patient outcomes and continually doing the best for our patients and their families.
  • We accept donations from a range of organisations – trusts, foundations, companies and commercial and membership organisations – without compromising our mission, independence, and credibility.
  • We can only accept donations that are lawfully made.
  • We only refuse or refund donations to EAAA in line with our policies, from sources (including individuals) that we deem to be disreputable, have potential to harm our reputation, or are involved in activities that are at odds with EAAA’s mission and values, and in exceptional circumstances. If we turn down a gift or offer of support, we will always explain why.
  • We will look after your data, store it securely, and respect your rights, privacy and preferences. We will never sell or share your data commercially. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.

  • We will display the Fundraising Regulator badge on our fundraising material to show we are committed to good practice.
  • We will carry out sufficient due diligence, following an agreed process, on donations we receive proportionate to the size, impact, and potential risk level of the gift.

We will be clear, honest and open

We will be respectful

  • We will respect your rights and privacy.
  • We will not put undue pressure on you to make a gift. If you do not want to give or wish to cease giving, we will respect your decision.
  • We will never, at any time, take advantage of the trust, lack of knowledge, apparent need for care and support, or vulnerable circumstances of an existing or potential donor.
  • There are clear rules relating to young people fundraising for charity we will follow these rules at all times.
  • We will ensure that any existing or potential donors, who may be in vulnerable circumstances or need extra care and support to make an informed decision, will receive this support and we will refer to EAAA’s Safeguarding Policy if required.
  • Where the law requires, we will get your consent before we contact you to fundraise.
  • If you tell us that you don’t want us to contact you in a particular way we will not do so. We will work with the Telephone, Mail, and Fundraising Preference Services to ensure that those who choose not to receive specific types of communication will not do so.
  • We will thank you for your donations and support in a timely and appropriate manner, and we will keep you updated on the impact of your support, unless you don’t want to receive this.

Code of Fundraising Practice

East Anglian Air Ambulance abides by the Code of Fundraising Practice developed and managed by the Fundraising Regulator.

The Code of Fundraising Practice applies to fundraising activity for charitable, philanthropic, or benevolent purposes in the UK. It aims to:

  • promote consistent, high standards of fundraising
  • explain what the Fundraising Regulator expects from charitable institutions, their governing bodies, and fundraisers
  • explain what we will consider when investigating complaints
  • provide information for charitable institutions to help them assess their fundraising activity and deal with any issues they identify; and
  • develop a culture of honesty, openness, and respect between fundraisers and the public.

The code does not cover:

• fundraising for a personal cause (for example, someone raising money to pay for their pet’s operation); or
• financial and business practices of charitable institutions, which are generally dealt with by statutory bodies.
