Dr Nicola Deputy Medical Director

Dr Nicola graduated in 2010 and, after completing specialty training, she became a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in 2020. During this time, she took a year out to complete a Fellowship with EAAA and has been with the charity ever since.

Dr Nicola shares her time between her NHS job role and EAAA where she specialises in Clinical Governance and works as one of two Deputy Medical Directors. As a HEMS Consultant, she also undertakes shifts as part of the critical care crew, usually with the Anglia One (Norwich).

Nicola says: “I always wanted to be a doctor and never had any other ideas as to what I might do. Working in an Emergency Department, I was always most interested in the most critically unwell patients who were brought to us both by the ambulance service and Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) teams. It was these colleagues who encouraged me to venture outside the safety of the hospital and I haven’t looked back since!”

She feels passionate about providing enhanced care at the incident, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to the most seriously ill and injured people in the region by air and road in her role at EAAA.

Nicola also recognises the life-saving impact of EAAA donors and fundraisers have on the 24/7 service: “Quite simply I wouldn’t be able to do the job I love and help the patients who need us the most without the generosity of the donors, fundraisers and supporters in our community. Each and every one of them makes a difference – and it’s that difference that can influence the care we’re able to provide to our patients and their families.”

Outside of work, Nicola loves travelling and seeing as much of the world as she can.
