Dr Liam Clinical Fellow Doctor

Dr Liam attended Nottingham University and completed his foundation training in London before moving to the East of England. For the last eight years, he has been rotating around multiple hospitals training in intensive care and emergency medicine as a Registrar.

Each six to twelve months, we welcome a new cohort of doctors and/or critical care paramedics to begin their specialist Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) training with East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA). The aim is to become a PHEM practitioner at the highest level. In August 2023, Dr Liam was part of the latest cohort of six clinicians who joined EAAA to commence their placement.

Liam is part of the Anglia One (Norwich) critical care team. He has gained significant experience working in intensive care and emergency medicine, and this has allowed him to see several different ways of working and some specialist area exposure.

Through this work in emergency departments, Liam has also been very aware of EAAA due to receiving patients following their transfer to hospital. He has always been very impressed with the critical care the seriously injured or unwell receive in the pre-hospital environment, so when the opportunity arose to gain more experience in this field, Liam didn’t hesitate to step forward to become part of the crew at EAAA’s Norwich base.

Liam says: “EAAA’s 24/7 service means attending medical emergencies, by air or road, during the hours of darkness. The pilots are phenomenal – there is nothing quite like flying Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) missions at night to reach people when they need urgent critical care.”

“Working for EAAA allows me to help people who are having their worst days and make that a day little bit better. I work within a fantastic team, where everyone is motivated in delivering the best patient care possible. This attitude is universal across the charity from volunteers and fundraisers to the medical team.
Supporters of EAAA allow us to deliver the best care we can with the best team. Without them we would not be able to do the job we do. They make a difference to the people of East Anglia on their worst days.”
