Captain Henrietta Pilot

Norwich Pilot, Captain Henrietta began her career flying offshore from Aberdeen and Norwich, a role she did for seven years before flying Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) missions with EAAA.

Captain Henrietta flies the Anglia One (Norwich) H145 aircraft on Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) missions from Helimed House, EAAA’s Norwich headquarters.

Henrietta was promoted to captain in 2023, becoming the only female multi-crew commander with Babcock International, EAAA’s aviation partner. This fantastic achievement follows three years of Henrietta co-piloting with Babcock, having developed her ambition to become a pilot aged just 12. She completed her commercial licence in Florida when she was 19 years old and then gained her instrument rating in Gloucester in 2010.

Henrietta says: “Becoming a HEMS pilot was always my dream and why I wanted to fly helicopters. I feel very privileged to be able to work with such amazing crews and inspirational people at Babcock and EAAA.”

“I look forward to coming to work. The flying is exciting, interesting, dynamic and requires us to constantly evaluate the weather, different plans, routes, landing sites and hospitals. Every day is different, and I enjoy working in a such close team. We never know where we might be called or at what time of day or night to get help to those who need it most. It’s incredibly rewarding.”

Henrietta is also passionate about encouraging and empowering women into aviation by pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) subjects and career aspirations.
