Andy O Critical Care Paramedic

Andy joined the East of England Ambulance Service in 2008 and become a Paramedic in 2012. Since then, he has worked in the Training and Education department before a transition into air ambulance roles in 2018.

In 2022, Andy became an Advanced Paramedic in Critical Care in 2022, dividing his time between working on both the East Anglian Air Ambulance and a ground based critical care car covering Norfolk.

Andy says: “I love a challenge and being pushed to the limits of feeling comfortable. The air ambulance is the perfect environment to challenge yourself in high-pressured and often difficult situations where you need to think on your feet. The charity and team I work with challenge you to be better and continually develop, which is an exciting environment to work in.”

His favourite part of the role is the people he works with: “They are the most motivational group of people you could meet!”

Andy has a keen interest in resuscitation and advancing the care EAAA can provide at the time and place the patient needs it. Like everyone at EAAA, Andy appreciates the fundraising and donations by the charity’s kind supporters:

“If it wasn’t for public support, we would not exist – and some families would not be what they are today. It is the most incredible gift you can give.”
