The communities we cover

EAAA covers over 5,000 square miles across the region 24/7 by air and road. Our core counties of operation are Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

We serve a community of over three million people in a variety of different landscapes. This includes the beaches of the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline, urban areas, including cities like Norwich and Cambridge, rural locations such as woodland and agricultural areas, and the vast road network which stretches across the region.

Our distinctive yellow helicopters and critical care cars mean EAAA crews can reach the most seriously ill and injured people in our region to bring them urgent critical care in the fastest time possible, whatever their location.

Norfolk

In 2023, EAAA crews were tasked 1,323 times and treated 932 patients who were experiencing medical emergencies.

Covering the county’s urban and agricultural areas, the crew respond by air or road to reach people in need of urgent critical care. The country is primarily served by Anglia One (Norwich), which has its base at Helimed House at Norwich Airport.

Suffolk

Including the towns of Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds, as well as rural, farming and coastal communities, the EAAA crews were tasked to medical emergencies in Suffolk 515 times in 2023.

They treated 347 patients in the county who needed the advanced medication, equipment and skills of East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Due to the proximity of Newmarket, the crew may attend several injuries in the county as a result of equestrian-related incidents.

Home to Anglia Two (Cambridge), the crews from East Anglian Air Ambulance were tasked 623 times in Cambridgeshire in 2023. They provided critical care and treatment to 478 patients who were experiencing medical emergencies and some of the worst moments of their lives.

Cambridgeshire is also the location of Addenbrooke’s Hospital, our region’s Major Trauma Centre, which is the destination hospital of some of the most critically injured and unwell people attended by EAAA.
