Best Employers initiative raises £16,000

Employee engagement initiative, Best Employers Eastern Region has raised over £16,000 for East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), the programme's highest charity fundraising total since the Best Employers scheme began in 2012.

Jointly run and delivered by Pure Resourcing Solutions and psychometrics experts Eras, and sponsored by Birketts LLP, Best Employers nominated EAAA in a charity partnership for this iteration of the programme. In addition to raising over £16,000 through the scheme entrance fee and a raffle, Best Employers have also supported EAAA in promotion and awareness within the east of England business community.

“We first started working with East Anglian Air Ambulance in 2016, and it was clear from the outset that employee engagement is so important to the organisation. Through the Best Employers programme, we felt a particular connection with the charity and the impact it has across the region, therefore it felt like a natural fit to support them through our most recent charity partnership.”

EAAA CEO Matthew Jones and Sarah Atkins Director of People and Culture, were invited to speak at the Best Employers launch event. It is the third time the charity has taken part in the initiative and the first time as charity partner.

EAAA is a charity providing advanced critical care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to the most seriously ill and injured people in the region by air and road. From road traffic collisions to cardiac arrests to medical emergencies, the charity’s specialist doctors, critical care paramedics and pilots bring the advanced skills, equipment and medicine directly to the scene of medical emergencies across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, in the fastest time possible.

EAAA is a charity which is independent from the NHS and Ambulance Trusts and receives no regular government funding, relying almost entirely on public support.

Sarah Atkins says: “As a regional organisation, Pure are very aware of East Anglian Air Ambulance as a regional charity; they understand our values and the impact of their support on the local community.”

The Best Employers scheme is designed to encourage employers in the east of England to consider their staff engagement and experience, and ultimately aims to empower leaders to positively transform their workplace cultures and environments.

Lynn Walters, Executive Director at Pure says: “We first started working with East Anglian Air Ambulance in 2016, and it was clear from the outset that employee engagement is so important to the organisation. Through the Best Employers programme, we felt a particular connection with the charity and the impact it has across the region, therefore it felt like a natural fit to support them through our most recent charity partnership.”

Ms Atkins continues: “We’re so grateful for Best Employers’ support and fundraising for EAAA’s 2/7 life-saving service. It has been incredible to be part of the programme and see the effort, thought, care and support for participants on the subject of staff engagement. Congratulations to all those who received accreditation through the process.”
